Seaport Biofuels introduces the first multi-blend biodiesel dispenser in the state of Washington
Seattle, WA – February 14, 2008 – Seaport Biofuels has introduced the first multi-blend biodiesel dispenser in the state of Washington. Customers can fuel up at their Seattle location with their choice of B20, B50, or B99.
While there are many service stations offering biodiesel in the Pacific Northwest, this is the first to offer multiple blends of biodiesel off of the same dispenser, allowing customers to choose which blend is right for them and their vehicles at one location.
“The move to a multi-blend dispenser for biodiesel is a significant step forward in developing the alternative fuel infrastructure,” said Travis Paulson, Vice President of Finance. “It is the first step in moving biodiesel from a boutique fuel to an alternative fuel that can be used by the mainstream consumer, or fleet manager.”
The new system automatically dispenses the appropriate blend of biodiesel that the user requests. Currently there are three choices available, B20, B50, and B99, just like the gasoline options at a traditional fuel station that sells Regular Unleaded, Mid-Grade Unleaded, and Premium Unleaded gasoline. The result is an alternative fuel dispenser that can fuel almost every diesel engine on the road today.
There are a variety of benefits from using biodiesel, including:
· A 30% reduction in hydrocarbons using a B20 blend, up to 67% for B99
· A 20% reduction in carbon monoxide using a B20 blend, up to 48% for B99
· A 15% reduction in particulate matter using a B20 blend, up to 47% for B99
· Biodiesel is non-toxic and biodegradable
· Biodiesel provides an energy balance that helps preserve and protect our natural resources
· For every energy unit that is used to produce biodiesel, 3.24 units are gained
The multi-blend dispenser is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and accepts all major credit cards, and Seaport Biofuels Fleet cards. Biodiesel pricing is as follows:
· B20 - $3.659 / Gal
· B50 - $3.669 / Gal
· B99 - $3.689 / Gal
